On this episode of Just One Q, Dominique chats with guest Crista Renner, a mediator specializing in workplace conflict and culture dynamics. They discuss the role of culture, systems, power dynamics, and peoples’ upbringings and trauma responses in shaping workplace conflict and suggest tools to help us approach conflict with more intention.
For nearly 20 years, Crista has worked with organizations to build stronger and more resilient teams, helping them to develop conflict-competent workforces that improve collaboration, increase trust and transparency, foster inclusivity, reduce unhealthy tension, problem-solve more effectively, and enhance employee well-being. Crista is fascinated by the transformative role of conflict in driving innovation and deeply understands that tension can either be a catalyst for breakthroughs or a barrier to success.
Her in-depth knowledge of emerging trends and best practices allows her to design and implement innovative solutions that position organizations for long-term success. Her expertise extends from her experience in the C-suite as a co-founder of Juice Inc. to her work with start-ups at Velocity and The Problem Lab at the University of Waterloo and with some of Canada’s most progressive leaders at Ivey Business School’s Innovation North.
Crista holds a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies from Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo, a BA in Justice Studies, and a Diploma in Corporate Communications. She is a Qualified Mediator with an Intercultural designation and a Restorative and Workplace Fairness Practitioner.
